Beemerkiller, Millreef, frayed, wishihadabentley: You and I know the truth that AutoDry works, despite what others suggest and despite how they go out of their way to misuse the product My cars have never looked better. I can't wait for the temp to go up here so I can go back to AutoDry. I wish I could figure out how to wash my car indoors.

Something else I have noticed.

You ONLY post on this thread to "pimp" your product.
You have not tried to help any car care concerns from board members on other posts..., your only "concern" is getting the free advertising and selling "your" product.

Why are people arguing here? Use what you like. If someone gives advice about what he likes that is fine, but arguing and rude behavior on a forum like this ruins it. Everything on here is just an opinion.

Why is it that everyone is always trying to find the quickest and easiest route. Detailing a car, and I mean detailing, is a true art form. All of you are spending top dollar for, IMHO, one of the finest automobiles ever made but you don't to take the time to properly wash and dry your cars.

Do me a favor...trade in your BMWs because unless you want to take the time NONE of you deserve them.

I have used the Auto Dry and I like it, It works as promised and saves a lot of time. I love to detail my car but sometimes I just dont have the time, If that means that I dont deserve my car then you better run.

I agree with Tom, please cool it because we enjoy discussing the techniques, but not arguments.

I have used the Auto Dry System on my truck and I like it. However with my BMW's detailing is a form of relaxation and entertainment that I look forward to and enjoy. I do not want a "quick fix" for them or I would loose that part of my day that I so very much enjoy[hihi] . Call be dumb...well not really, but being retired I need the detailing time to get exercise and pass my time. I am also a Zymol supporter as opposed to an althletic supporter....[joke] but I know that many members here use numerous other products..that is good, maybe I can learn from them and they from me...at the least we are doing our part to drive up the ecomony(isn't that how it works?)[thumb]

BTW, I am not upset with the product, just disappointed it did not meet my high standards and the marketing practices of such a big company.

If you guys like it, I am ok with that..., you can get $5 off your purchase with a coupon online and Autozone has them for $14.99.

I can also use Turtle wax and Armor All..., but I "choose" to use higher quality products to get a better finish and durability(Zaino, Einszett, Klasse, just to name a few), as I cater to the high end auto enthusiests, detailers and collectors of fine automobiles.

I do not want this to be an ongoing argument. You have your standards, I have mine, nothing wrong with that..., is there?
I have ALWAYS said to use what you like best and fits in your budget and timeframe. I am constantly looking to improve and use the highest possible quality products, which are not found in Wal-Mart, Pep Boys or Autozone.".
Wayne, having been involved in the bimmer scene since 94 with my first bimmer, moderating bimmerforums.com (I'm sure some of you know it), and being a bit of a track rat, I am not only an automotive enthusiast but a bimmer enthusiast. I consider myself a discrimminating one as well.

During this time, I've used: Zaino, Finish First, Zymol, Meguires Medallion, Klasse, various 3M products including IHG, and my current favorite, P21S, including their paint cleanser and their wax. I've purchased nearly all my detailing products from Larry Reynolds at Car Care Specialties, a long time BMW CCA member, Roundel advertiser, and many-time-over concours winner.

Suggesting that anyone here happy with the Autodry has lower standards is presumptious at best. The Autodry has cut my weekly washings down from an hour + ordeal to 20-30 minutes. Given the fact that I have two children, a demanding profession, and time with my car is better spent driving, I actually value the convenience of the Autodry.

It worked exactly as claimed for me. Nothing more, nothing less. I was expecting it not to work, but for 20 bucks, I thought, what the hell, I'll give it a shot.

My questions revolve around actual effects on the wax and potential long term affects of the soap. Phil answered them honestly as he could, offering valuable information that I have been unable to get from P&G directly. I'm not sure of Phil's affiliation with Proctor and Gamble, but unless he's the CEO or a major shareholder, I'm not sure he's even technically capable of spamming. I'm glad somebody could give another view on the product, rather than all the purists out there labeling it the work of the devil.

Happy detailing.

I have a son to rock to sleep.

All:

In the heat of passion, I mentioned that detailing was an art. What I should have said was that detailing is a labor of love. I'm very passionate about the way my car runs and looks and I was a little over zealoous making the comment that I did.

mr. clean strips wax

I used Mr. Clean autodry today for the first time. I will say that it works as advertised, but it also does strip wax. I know this because I use the colored turtle wax. It does a very good job of hiding minor nicks and scratches. Well, I followed the directions to the letter. As I was using the sponge to wash the car, I noticed that my sponge turned red, the same color as the turtle wax. Now, I have been using this wax for years and never did any of my sponges turn red. After the car air dried, there were no spots, but my wax coat was gone. There is a spot on the front of my car where there are a bunch of small dings. They are not visible with the wax coat, but they were very visible after the wax had been stripped. Just for completeness, I waxed the car about a month ago, and have washed it once since then. I have also been using this wax for years and never a problem.

I do have a question however. I am planning on using my old soap, which doesn't strip wax and just use the filter for the rinse. Anyone know how well this will work? Also, at only 10 washes per filter, does anyone else find this wastefull? All these plastic filters in the landfill?? Just a thought.
