looking 4 a 740

looking for a 740 from between 1998 and 2001. What should I look for and what should I stay away from?

The key is to have it inspected by someone you trust and has BMW knowledge and ask for the service records.

Get down on the ground, inspect to see if you can see any serious oil leaks on the engine, tranny, and diff.
Check all your interior bits and pieces, make sure all the electrics work.
And test drive!! Listen for any thuds, cluncking, harsh gear changes etc...

Good luck, and yes, if you can do what big daddy said, having someone with you that knows bmws or knows enough about your particular model is a great advantage too.
