Engine oil question!!

Hello!!

Well I decide my mind, I'll get E46 within $12k, would be over 90k miles.

So, I'm collecting informations all over the place. Webs, any friends, etc
(I can't trust noob friends though..lol)

I Need to know the best engine oil for the high-mileage E46.

Pennzoil? Vavoline? Mobil One? I don't know what brand is best for the E46.

And uhh..what is 10w-30 stand for?

I heard about it before, but I totally forgot it =.=
